Mark W. Hoffman
Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder
Mark was the CEO and co-founder of Upstream Technologies, a leading portfolio manufacturing and trading solutions provider, which was purchased by CheckFree Investment Services, now Fiserv in 2007, to deliver highly scalable and complementary capabilities to its industry leading separately managed account portfolio accounting platform. Before Upstream, Mark co-founded Lattice Trading, a highly scalable advanced Alternative Trading System that integrates order-matching with order-routing. Upon Lattice’s acquisition by State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) in 1996, Mark became the Director of Electronic Trading for SSGA where he increased the Lattice Division client base to over 100 asset management institutions and led a financial engineering team that built trading algorithms for its clients. Prior to co-founding Lattice, Mark developed equity trading, financial analysis, stock selection and fund management systems for Colonial Management and EDS, among others. Mark has a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin.
Paul R. Samuelson
Chief Investment Officer and Co-Founder
Paul was Chief Investment Officer and co-founder of Upstream Technologies, responsible for architecting the investment processes and algorithms for the firm’s asset management software. Upon the sale of Upstream in May 2007 to CheckFree Investment Services, now Fiserv, Paul was a consultant to CheckFree and a Principal for its broker dealer subsidiary. Prior to Upstream, Paul founded Samuelson Portfolio Strategies, which was acquired by Upstream in March 2002. From 1993 to 1998, Paul was Chief Investment Officer at PanAgora Investment Management, Boston and London. Paul was also a Partner, Fixed Income Securities, at Hagler, Mastrovita and Hewitt, Boston from 1991 to 1993; Vice President, Colonial Management Associates, Boston, 1986 to 1991; Consultant at Acadian Financial Management, Boston, 1981 to 1986; and Director of Portfolio Analysis at The Ford Foundation, New York. Paul graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Cum Laude from Williams College with a B.A., and holds a Ph.D. and an M.S.M. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
President, CFO and Co-Founder
Michael was the Chief Financial Officer at Upstream Technologies, starting in 2002. Upon the sale of Upstream in May 2007 to CheckFree Investment Services, now Fiserv, Michael was Vice President of Advanced Trading Solutions at CheckFree and Chief Financial Officer of CheckFree Securities, CheckFree’s broker dealer subsidiary. Prior to Upstream, Michael was CFO of Collectsafe, a developer of web-based anti-fraud technology. Before Collectsafe, Michael was Vice President and Co-founder of the Private Equity Group at Wit Capital Corporation (now part of UBS), a pioneer in investment banking technology, and was an associate in Cowen & Company’s Private Transactions Group. Michael has a B.A. from Vassar College, a J.D. from Boston College School of Law, and is a member of the New York and Massachusetts State Bars.
Chief Technology Officer
Enis has over 25 years of experience in software engineering, architecture, and technology management. Prior to LifeYield, Enis spent eight years at AIR Worldwide where he was AVP and Software Engineering Director responsible for leading the development of the company’s flagship natural and man-made catastrophe risk analysis software for insurers, reinsurers and financial markets. In 2003 Enis and partners formed Pagos Inc. to produce rating and quoting software for leading U.S. group healthcare insurance providers. Prior to 2000, Enis was a technical manager at Farmakom A.S. where he was responsible for building that company’s proprietary network connecting pharmaceutical warehouses and pharmacies, as well as the software that facilitates transactions on the network. Enis holds a B.S. in Physics from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.

Jack Sharry is a leading industry voice on wealthtech, the Unified Managed Household (UMH), and the future of financial advice. His mission is to help investors, financial advisors and firms achieve improved financial outcomes. Jack hosts the WealthTech on Deck podcast – a weekly series of conversations with industry leaders about the technology and strategies transforming financial advice. He also writes for two leading advisor publications, Financial Advisor Magazine and InvestmentNews, about maximizing retirement income through technology. As Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer, and Principal at LifeYield, Jack helps industry leaders, platform builders, advisors and investors understand UMH platforms and the advantages they create for advisors, their firms, and their clients. An innovator and collaborator for four decades, Jack has been a senior executive in sales, marketing, product development and distribution at Morgan Stanley, Putnam Investments and Virtus Investment Partners, and holds a patent for advisory programs. He is the author of Authentic and Ethical Persuasion, a book about lessons learned in sales, marketing, and business development. Jack is an MMI Pioneer and Chairman’s Award recipient for thought leadership on retirement issues, and co-chairs the InvestmentNews Future of Advice initiative. He serves on the Next Chapter and Chalice Financial Network advisory boards, helping advisors and firms grow their effectiveness and profitability.
EVP, Product Development
Martin was an EVP, Software Engineering and then the CTO of Upstream Technologies, responsible both for the technology and product management of Upstream’s portfolio management and trading solutions. After the sale of Upstream to CheckFree Investment Services (now Fiserv) in 2007, Martin continued to lead the development of the Upstream products as VP of Software Development for Advanced Trading Solutions, overseeing the integration of those systems with Fiserv’s industry-leading APL portfolio accounting and trading system. He also maintained a close involvement in defining Fiserv’s future technology and product direction for its trading solutions in general. His role at Fiserv later expanded to cover the development of Fiserv Investment Services’ corporate actions, trade settlement and fee billing systems. Before joining Upstream, Martin was Lead Technical Architect for AIT Group (now Portrait Software), a provider of web-based CRM software to the financial services industry, where he developed software solutions for Barclays and Key Bank, amongst others. Prior to AIT, Martin’s consulting, management and programming roles included positions with Logica and Aviva in the UK. Martin holds a B.Sc. in Computer Systems Engineering and a M.Sc. in Computing Science, both from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK.
EVP, Advisor Support
Tom has over 25 years of experience in technology, with particular focus on financial technology. Tom was Head of Sales at Upstream Technologies from 2002 until it was acquired by CheckFree, now Fiserv, in 2007. Before Upstream, Tom held a number of senior sales positions, including Director of Sales at Zantaz, a provider of compliance technology to the financial services industry; Vice President of Sales for Quote.com, a financial applications and tools provider later acquired by Lycos; and Director of Sales at Information Access Company, a Thomson Corporation company. Tom holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts.
EVP, Direct-to-Advisor Sales
Steve has over ten years of experience in finance services, advisor technology and sales. Formerly, Steve was Director of Business Development at HiddenLevers, a risk analysis and proposal generation system dedicated to increasing transparency around measuring and illustrating investment risk. From 2012 until October 2017, Steve worked with financial advisors on implementing technology into their practices. Before HiddenLevers, Steve worked as a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. Steve holds a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management from California State University – Chico.
EVP, Enterprise Sales
Harry has over 18 years of experience in enterprise sales, financial services and advisor technologies sales. Prior to LifeYield, Harry was the Enterprise Sales Director at Linedata, where he ran all business development efforts for its fund services team, targeting asset managers, private equity and trust companies. Before Linedata, Harry held leadership roles at Infinata and helped pioneer Robo-Advisor Sales at Financial Engines. He began his career as a Regional Vice President at John Hancock Life Insurance Company. Harry holds a B.A. in Economics from State University of New York College at Cortland.
SVP, Product Delivery and Integrations
Denis has over eighteen years of experience in financial services, advisor and information technology. Formerly, Denis was Global Head of Support and Operations at Fidessa, where he was responsible for working with the Rockland Trust technology department, outside vendors and the investment management team with respect to technology issues and demands. From 2009 until July 2015, Denis worked at LifeYield as Director of Operations to provide Investment Management and Market Data expertise to operations, development and sales groups within LifeYield. Before LifeYield, Denis worked as Vice President of Investment Management Group at Rockland Trust Company. Denis holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from College of the Holy Cross.
VP, Enterprise Sales & Relationships
Jeff drives enterprise sales and relationships at LifeYield. He’s responsible for working with existing clients to increase advisor adoption and effectiveness, as well as identifying opportunities to expand relationships that bring added value to our customers. In addition, Jeff engages with prospective clients to drive new revenue to the firm. Jeff has over fifteen years of leadership experience in Financial Services. Prior to LifeYield, Jeff spent time at MoneyGuidePro and Advizr, helping firms understand the benefits of technology and financial planning. Before that, Jeff was a Regional Vice President for Hartford and ING, and held Leadership and Development positions at MetLife and AIG. Jeff is an avid Yankee fan (don’t hold that against him), and spends his free time with his wife Janiene – watching his daughter Kayla on the XC course or track and his son Connor on the Baseball Diamond.
Matt leads marketing at LifeYield. He’s responsible for all marketing strategy, including brand, content, product marketing, social media, email, marketing automation, lead gen, website, sales enablement, and sales and service operations. Prior to LifeYield, Matt was Social Media and Product Marketing Manager at Putnam Investments, where he was in charge of all paid and organic social media activities for the firm, as well as all product marketing for the award-winning fund comparison tool, FundVisualizer. Matt started his career in tech, and after doing nearly every job in the marketing department for Fortune 500 companies and startups, found his niche in FinTech. In addition to leading marketing at LifeYield, Matt is the Commissioner of the LifeYield Fantasy Football League. He also holds a BBA in Marketing from the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst. When he’s not writing copy or generating leads, you can find him watching the Patriots, camping, playing soccer and golf, or posting on LinkedIn. Sometimes, all at once.
