IT Operations Engineer

Overview

This is a hands-on technical position in LifeYield Operations team and is responsible for implementation, availability, security and support of LifeYield systems and services.

Responsibilities

  • Research and recommend technologies to meet business goals
  • Participate in operations team projects based on personal skill-set and experience
  • Coordinate and participate in scheduled software rollouts and provide regular status during the process
  • Participate in operations on-call schedule and respond to any system alerts and internal or customer support requests during off-hours
  • Work with enterprise and individual clients to respond to questions, provide clarifications and technical support
  • Maintain and update security, compliance and audit documentation as necessary
  • Work with development and SQA teams to develop software rollout and test plans
  • Work with vendors to obtain quotes, make purchases, schedule services, coordinate transitions
  • Document and update technical operational procedures
  • Document and update computer and network security, disaster recovery, data access and other IT infrastructure-related policy and procedure documents
  • Coordinate and maintain company and customer data backups and recovery procedures

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in network operations, systems administration and computer and network security, including skills in the following list:

  • Physical data center environments
  • Virtualization and Infrastructure-as-a-Service Cloud environments
  • Networking concepts: TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, NAT, VPN, VLAN, DNS
  • Protocols: HTTPS, FTPS (SSL) and SFTP (SSH)
  • Routers, security appliances, Layer 2 & 3 switches
  • Microsoft server operating systems
  • Microsoft server software: IIS, SQL Server, SSIS
  • Mission critical customer data backups
  • Centralized, reviewed and planned operating system and 3rd party software upgrades
  • Software rollouts to isolated production, staging and QA environments
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Familiarity with any of the following is a plus:

  • Virtual infrastructure design, resource planning, security and encryption
  • Industry security, privacy and compliance standards; HIPAA, SSAE 16 SOC 2, PCI DSS, NIST and similar
  • High availability, redundancy and disaster recovery
  • Network Attached Storage devices
  • Load balancers
  • Centralized hardware and software monitoring, and alerting
  • Network monitoring, threat detection, alerting and response
